Uniform Management Software for Pharmaceutical Companies
Pharmaceutical manufacturing operates under some of the strictest regulatory frameworks of any industry. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines from the FDA, EMA, and other regulatory bodies mandate that personnel working in cleanroom environments wear specific gowning that prevents product contamination. Managing this gowning systematically is not optional — it is a regulatory requirement.
Cleanroom classifications dictate gowning requirements. An ISO Class 5 cleanroom demands full coveralls, hoods, face masks, goggles, boot covers, and double-gloving, while an ISO Class 8 environment may only require lab coats, hair covers, and shoe covers. Your uniform management system must categorize items by cleanroom classification and ensure each employee entering a specific zone is assigned the correct gowning package.
Wash cycle tracking is critical in pharmaceutical environments. Cleanroom garments lose their particle-shedding performance after a certain number of washes. Track the number of laundry cycles for each garment and automatically flag items that have reached their maximum wash count for retirement. This data must be available for FDA audits, as regulators will ask for garment lifecycle documentation during facility inspections.
Gowning qualification is a documented process in GMP facilities. Employees must be trained and qualified to don cleanroom garments correctly. Link gowning qualification records to uniform assignments in your system — if an employee's qualification has expired, the system should flag them as ineligible for cleanroom gowning until requalification is complete.
Audit readiness is paramount in pharma. During an FDA 483 observation or EMA inspection, you may be asked to produce complete records showing which garments were used in which cleanroom on which date, how many wash cycles each garment had completed, and whether the employee wearing it was gowning-qualified. A digital uniform management system produces these records in seconds. Paper-based systems cannot.
